The price of housing has dropped in 13 provinces for the first time since the boom began a decade ago, including two in Andalucia – Jaen and Cadiz. In the rest of the country, housing registered a 5.3% rise over the last 12 months, the lowest since 1998. Because of the rise in interest rates, mortgage repayments have increased by up to 212 euros (Catalonia), with the lowest increase – 122 euros – registered in Extremadura.
